A Delegation from the Politecnico di Milano Visits TJU

On October 20th, Vice President Zhong Denghua met with Professor Giuliano Noci, Vice Rector for Chinese Campus from the Politecnico di Milano, and his delegation. The representatives from the College of Management and Economics, the School of Architecture and the International Cooperation Office also attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhong extended his warm welcome to the guests and briefed them on Tianjin University (TJU) history, its recent development, characteristics, international exchange and cooperation. Professor Noci expressed his appreciation for TJU’s hospitality and gave an overview of the Politecnico di Milano, including its talents training and distinctive disciplines. He indicated that the Politecnico di Milano attaches great importance to its development in Tianjin and collaboration with TJU. He also expressed his desire to further the mutual cooperation between the two universities in regard to personnel exchanges and talents training. Both sides reviewed the collaboration between the two universities and reached an agreement to promote their cooperation at both the university and the college level.

During their visit, the delegation also held a detailed discussion regarding faculty exchanges and student training with the representatives from the College of Management and Economics, the School of Architecture and the School of Civil Engineering.

The Politecnico di Milano, established in 1863, is the oldest university in Milan. It ranks first in Italy in its engineering and it is the first university in Italy to be ranked as one of the top 50 technical universities globally in the QS World University Rankings. According to the QS World University Rankings 2011/12, the university ranked at No. 48 among technical universities in the world.
