OnMay 31,President Li Jiajun met with MayorCelia Wade-Brown and her delegation of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. The representatives of the Office of the President, the Office of International Cooperation, the School of Architecture, the Department of Physical Education and threestudent assistants to the President also attended the meeting.
President Li and MayorWade-Brown gave overviews of Tianjin University (TJU) and Wellington respectively. Mayor Wade-Brown hoped to initiate the cooperation with TJU in the fields of education, architecture and physics. The collaboration between the two sides on these fields and the popularization of Rugby were also discussed. Later, the delegation visited TJU History Museum.
The 23-member delegation of New Zealand government and industryheaded byMayorWade-Brown visited the landmarks and key projects of Tianjin, including Tianjin Cultural Center, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, etc. Tianjin University is the only university they visited during their stay in Tianjin.
