On October 23, Tianjin University (TJU) President Li Jiajun met with President Joel Allain of the ?cole Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Bourges (ENSI Bourges) and his delegation. The Presidents signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation between the two universities. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation, the Graduate School, and the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation attended the meeting.
A dual-degree program between the two universities was discussed during the meeting. President Li indicated that TJU students had very good reputation among partner universities such as Rice University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. They should also be recognized by ENSI Bourges. He added that TJU students had benefited greatly from a variety of exchange programs with French universities in spite of the relatively small scale so far. President Allain expressed his gratitude for TJU's hospitality. He said that the two universities are both famous in engineering, and the Master of Engineering degree conferred by French universities is highly respected. Through a dual-degree program, the international competitiveness of students would be enhanced further. He also hoped that the two sides could continue to expand their cooperation through such programs.
During their visit, the delegation discussed details of the collaboration with representatives from program associated schools and departments of TJU, which included curriculum matching and credit transfers among others. A work schedule was also made.
Established in 1997, ENSI Bourges has two engineering programs: the Industrial Risk Management Program (MRI), IT Technologies and Safety Program (STI).These training programs take into account the needs of the engineer being responsible for risk prevention and management as well as the needs for analysis and development of present and future IT systems.
