The first National Industrial Design Competition wrapped up on September 20. The “Parallel Machine Tool for High-Speed Machining”, invented by the students from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University, won first prize in the competition.
This competition, organized by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, received 24,537 entries from 18,414 entrants, representing over 700 universities throughout the country since submissions began in June of 2012.
The “Parallel Machine Tool for High-Speed Machining”, based on “Parallel Machine Technology” developed by Professor Huang Tian of the same school, characterizes interdisciplinary innovation and has a huge market potential. This entry received immense praise from the judges.
According to the organizer, the competition is unprecedented in terms of its scale and the strictness. These prized entries represent the industrial design capability of higher education.
