Honorary Titles are appointed to promote collaboration with overseas individuals, institutions and organizations in research, teaching and learning to improve TJU's international impact and development.

1. Categories of Honorary Appointments of TJU

　　• Honorary Professor

　　The title Honorary Professor is the highest honorary title and a ceremonial position for outstanding overseas scholars who would like to improve TJU's international impact and development.

　　• Guest Professor

　　The Guest Professors is an honorary title to the esteems overseas professors who have made and are willing to make important contributions to the teaching and scientific research of TJU.

　　• Guest Researcher

　　The Guest Researcher is appointed to the foreign experts who are from famous international universities, research institutes or corporations and have made or are willing to make contributions to the development of TJU

2. Application for the honorary titles

　　2.1 Honorary Professor

　　2.1.1 Appointment Conditions

　　Candidates of the Honorary Professor are expected to have made outstanding achievements

　　in a certain subject discipline which is recognized by the international academic communities

　　with international reputation and academic influence.

　　2.1.2 Responsibilities

　　• Organize seminars to introduce the development trend of academic frontiers in a certain discipline.

　　• Giving Lectures/hosting conferences to advance knowledge and to improve the university's academic visibility;

　　• Training young scholars by offering opportunities for further study;

　　• Teaching/PhD supervision when appropriate;

　　2.1.3 Documents Requirement (Schools are responsible for taking up all the documents)

　　• A full academic CV with signature on the first or last page (electronic signature is accepted) • Three recommendation letters external to the University and two recommendation letters from the universities

　　• Application form for TJU Honorary Professor

　　2.1.4 Granting Method

　　• Honorary professors will be conferred a Certificate of Honor issued by the president of Tianjin University. The honorary professorship is valid after formal awarding ceremony in which the Certificate of Honor is awarded.

　　• The awarding ceremony should be held in Tianjin University in which the president or vice president will award the Certificate of Honor. The ceremony will be coordinated by the Office of International Cooperation and prepared by relevant schools.

　　• The list of honorary professors will be publicized online by the Office of International Cooperation.

　　2.2 Guest Professor

　　2.2.1 Appointment Conditions

　　Candidates of the Guest Professor are expected to have doctorate degree and professorship title and made achievements in a certain subject discipline with international reputation.

　　2.2.2 Responsibilities

　　• Organize seminars to introduce the development trend of academic frontiers in a certain discipline.

　　• Giving Lectures/hosting conferences to advance knowledge and to improve the university's academic visibility;

　　• Training young scholars by offering opportunities for further study;

　　• Teaching/PhD supervision when appropriate;

　　2.2.4 Granting Method

　　• Guest professors will be conferred a Certificate of Appointment issued by the president of Tianjin University. The school should organize the awarding ceremony and award the Certificate of Appointment. The guest professorship is valid after formal awarding ceremony in which the Certificate of Appointment is awarded.

　　• The list of guest professors will be publicized online by the Office of International Cooperation.

　　2.3 Guest Researcher

　　2.3.1 Appointment Conditions

　　Candidates of the Guest Researcher from famous international universities and research institutes should have doctorate degree and make certain achievements in a certain subject. Candidates from famous international corporations should be senior management personnel or have important positions, and make certain achievements in a certain area.

　　2.3.2 Responsibilities

　　• Organize seminars to introduce the engineering practice or development trend of academic frontiers in a certain discipline.

　　• Organize, participate in and coordinate activities which have important influence on the engineering educational reform and outstanding engineer training.

　　• Training young scholars by offering opportunities for further study.

　　• Provide professional consultation for the development of Tianjin University.

　　2.3.3 Documents Requirement (Schools are responsible for taking up all the documents)

　　• Application form for TJU Guest Researcher

　　2.3.4 Granting Method

　　• Guest researchers will be conferred a Certificate of Appointment issued by the president of Tianjin University. The school should organize the awarding ceremony and award the Certificate of Appointment.
