1. About Tianjin University

　　Tianjin University (TJU), colloquially known as Tianda, is situated in Tianjin, under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is among the first batch of national key universities designated by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and is a proud participant in the country's initial "985 Project" and "211 Project." Additionally, TJU is categorized as a Class A institution in the "Double First-Class" initiative. Founded on October 2, 1895, originally as Peiyang University, it marks the beginning of modern higher education in China, making it the nation's first modern university.

　　Tianjin University takes the helm in the creation of new engineering disciplines as the leader of the national initiative on new engineering education. It propelled the "Tianda Action Plan" for new engineering programs, spearheading the establishment of both the International Alliance for Education in New Engineering Disciplines and the National Center for Innovation in New Engineering Education. The university has been selected for multiple prestigious national projects, including the "Excellence Plan," the national programs for fostering high-level talents urgently needed in energy storage technology, and the self-evaluation authority for degree authorization. It also serves as a base for the Training Program of the Top Students in Basic Disciplines 2.0, a demonstration project for World-Class Cyber Security Academic Institutions, and is among the top universities for transforming scientific and technological achievements. Notably, TJU is one of the historic "Old Eight" arcTJU ecture schools. In the 2024 QS World University Rankings, it placed 285th globally (13th in China), and in the THE World University Rankings, it was in the 201-250 bracket globally (16th in China). According to the 2023 Soft Science Ranking of Chinese Universities, TJU ranked 21st overall and 10th among engineering universities.

　　The university advocates a development philosophy based on "strengthening engineering, augmenting science, invigorating humanities, advancing medicine, and encouraging interdisciplinary integration." Consequently, it boasts a comprehensive array of disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, medicine, education, and arts, all developing in harmony. With 74 undergraduate programs, 47 primary disciplines for master's degrees, 34 for doctoral degrees, and 37 post-doctoral research stations, TJU has achieved significant academic prominence. Fourteen of its disciplines rank in the top 1% globally according to the ESI rankings, with four in the top 0.1% and engineering disciplines in the top 0.01%.

　　Tianjin University is committed to a globally-facing approach in education, deeply engaging in international collaborations. It has established partnerships with 260 universities, research institutes, and companies across 50 countries and regions. Joint initiatives include the partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology for the Tianjin University-Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute, with the National University of Singapore for the Tianjin University-NUS Fuzhou Joint College, and the ongoing establishment of the Hainan International College. TJU is a founding member of the China-ASEAN Engineering University Alliance, the China-Central and Eastern Europe Alliance for Technological Innovation Universities, and the Global University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance. Additionally, it has created the China-ASEAN Marine-Oriented Education Center and the International Energy Cooperation Organization - APEC Sustainable Energy Center, among other significant achievements in international cooperation and cultural exchange initiatives.

　　Tianjin University puts a strong emphasis on internationalization in talent development. It has successfully accredited 11 majors internationally and developed 710 courses taught entirely in English. Over the past five years, 792 students have been admitted to the national program for studying abroad, with 42.5% of them attending top 100 QS-ranked universities. TJU aims to cultivate students' global competencies, having sent 37 students for internships and training at prestigious institutions such as the United Nations Office at Geneva and the China-ASEAN Center, among others. The university also vigorously promotes the "Study in Tianda" program, maintaining a scale of over 2000 international students enrolled in degree programs. Significantly, its School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology was selected as one of the national "Demonstration Schools for Internationalization." Additionally, Tianjin University has established the Confucius Institutes at the University of Queensland, Australia, and in Bratislava, Slovakia, with the latter being recognized as an “Advanced Confucius Institute” globally.

2. Requirements

　　1. Abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and have good scientific ethics.

　　2. Research mainly focused on natural science, engineering and technology or related scientific fields.

　　3. Candidates for Assistant Professor should generally be no more than 32 years of age (this age requirement may be handled flexibly for those with outstanding academic performance); candidates for Regular Postdoctoral Researcher should be no more than 35 years of age.

　　4. Obtained a Ph.D. degree for less than three years. Those who are going to receive Ph.D. degrees in 2023 can also apply.

　　5. Have outstanding research accomplishments during Ph.D study.

　　6. Have the potential to become a young top talent in a specific research field.

3. Benefits

　　1. Position: Assistant Professor / Regular Postdoctoral Researcher

　　2.Remuneration:

　　(1) The annual salary of the first employment period is RMB XXXX for Assistant Professors or RMB XXXX for Regular Postdoctoral Researchers.

　　(2) Other income depending on scientific research performance, with no ceiling.

　　3. Working conditions: TJU provides competitive work and research environment. TJU also provides research start-up fund and support to launch their own scientific research teams for Assistant Professors.
