A Delegation from the Institution of Chemical Engineers Visits TU

On October 25th, Chairman of the University Council Liu Jianping met with Professor Sir William Wakeham, President of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), and his delegation. Also in attendance were the representatives from the School of Chemical Engineering, the Office of Undergraduate Affairs and the International Cooperation Office.

Chairman Liu first extended his warm welcome to the guests and his sincere appreciation for IChemE’s guidance and assistance in its accreditation to TJU’s bachelor program in chemical engineering. He then presented a detailed introduction in regard to the talents training, scientific research and social service of the School of Chemical Engineering, its efforts and achievements. Professor Wakeham expressed his appreciation for TJU’s hospitality and his congratulations on the achievements made by the school. He then pointed out that in addition to the accreditation, IChemE would continue to pay close attention to the career development of TJU graduates. He also expressed his hope that TJU and IChemE could strengthen their collaboration in the sustainable development of energy and water resources and thereby TJU’s internal and global standing could be further promoted. Afterwards, the delegation paid a visit to the School of Chemical Engineering and held a discussion with related administrators and faculty members there.

Founded in 1922 as a non-profit organization, IChemE aims to build and sustain an active international professional community, united by a commitment to qualifications and standards that foster excellence, relevance and esteem and the delivery of benefits to society; to engage with others to promote the development, understanding and use of chemical engineering and the appreciation of its importance; to provide support and services to individuals, employers and others at all career stages who contribute to the practice and application of chemical engineering; to enable chemical engineers to interact and communicate with each other and with other disciplines. It is the only organization in Britain in its professional accreditation of universities for chemical engineering. Its accreditation is widely recognized all over the world.
