On December 14, President Li Jiajun met with President Robert Redhammer of Slovak University of Technology (STU) and his delegation. President Li extended his warm welcome to the guests. He then briefed them on the history, advantageous disciplines as well as the education and research of Tianjin University (TJU). After showing appreciation for TJU’s hospitality, President Redhammer presented an overview of STU.
The representatives of the Research Institute of Architectural Design & Urban Planning, the Binhai Industrial Research Institute, the TJU Science Park, the School of International Education and the Office of International Cooperation had discussions with the delegation. During their meeting, TJU representatives introduced to the guests the functions, construction pattern, management system and development of the Binhai Industrial Research Institute and the Science Park. Both sides then had a discussion on the construction and operation of the Science Park. President Redhammer expressed hopes to further deepen its cooperation with TJU on culture, language and student exchange programs and enhance the collaboration between TJU Research Institute of Architectural Design & Urban Planning and Slovak architectural design companies.
Vice President Feng Yaqing met with the delegation during their visit. She hoped that the collaboration between the two universities could be further promoted through the platform of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava.
The Slovak University of Technology is located in Bratislava. Since its establishment in 1937, more than 125,000 graduates have completed their education at STU. STU currently consists of 7 Faculties. The credit system of the 7 faculties is compatible with European Credit Transfer System. STU places high priority on International research collaboration and has successfully joined in EU projects.
Confucius Institute in Bratislava was established in May 2007 in collaboration with TJU and Slovak University of Technology. Through a variety of educational exchange activities in areas of Chinese language and culture, including high-level educational events such as “Slovakia Day” and “Tianjin University Day”, the Confucius Institute in Bratislava has positive influence on comprehensive bilateral collaboration in areas of education and culture, as well as science and technology.
