Vice Chairman of the Board of Manipal Education Group (India) Madhav Das Nalapat and Vice Chancellor of the Manipal University (India) Komattil Ramnarayan, accompanied by Deputy Director Wu Shan of the 2ndAsia Department of China Association for International Friendly Contact, visited Tianjin University (TJU) on May 31. President Li Jiajun met with the guests. The representatives of the School of International Education, the Office of International Cooperation and three student assistants to the President also attended the meeting.
Vice Chairman Nalapat presented President Li with a traditional Indian scarf, a symbol of honor, respect and love. President Li extended his appreciation and welcome to the guests. He then briefed them on TJU history and development, emphasizing the distinctive disciplines, research and international cooperation. He also prospected for the enhanced understanding between the two universities.
Vice Chairman Nalapat expressed his appreciation for TJU’s hospitality. He spoke highly of the rapid development of Tianjin as well as the numerous key disciplines of TJU and hoped to establish the overall strategic partnership with TJU. He then gave an overview of the history, disciplinary layouts and unique student programs of the Manipal University.
Both sides reached an initial agreement on their partnership, and discussed about the potential cooperation opportunities, including student training, faculty exchange and joint research.
Afterwards, the delegation visited TJU History Museum and showed strong interests in TJU's history and development.
