2012-06-12

On June 11, Vice Party Secretary Li Yidan of Tianjin University (TJU) met with a delegation from Tamkang University (TKU) led by its Vice President Po-yuan Kao. Representatives from TJU School of International Education, the Office of Undergraduate Affairs, the campus library, the Logistics Department, the Information and Network Center, and the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Afairs also attended the meeting.

Vice Party Secretary Li mentioned about TJU's history, its teaching characteristics, recent developments and efforts in student affairs. He stated that TJU is devoted to the future of its students, and has developed a variety of campus activities to develop their overall capabilities in line with the strategic requirement of Chinese higher education.

Vice President Kao hoped that this visit would further strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two universities in order to mutually develop higher education across the Taiwan Strait.

Both sides then exchanged views about undergraduate admission policies, student counseling, study abroad programs, library management, university information systems, and student dining services.

Founded in 1950, Tamkang University was the first private university in Taiwan, China. It now includes four campuses -- the Tamsui Campus, the Taipei Campus, the Lanyang Campus and the Cyber Campus. It consists of nine colleges with a student body of 28,000 and more than 2,200 faculty and staff members.
