On September 19, Nigel Relph, Vice President of the University of South Australia (UniSA) visited Tianjin University (TJU) with his delegation. Liu Yaochang, TJU's Vice Associate President, met with the delegation. During their visit, the delegation spoke with representatives of TJU related offices and schools, discussing potential cooperation in the field of health science. Afterward, the delegation held an in-depth discussion with the representatives of TJU's Steering Committee of the China-Australia Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CAC_SUD) regarding the establishment of the center.
During the talks, both sides agreed that multilevel student programs should be launched among undergraduates and postgraduates. In order to expand substantial cooperation, more exchange channels should be created for students from the two universities through such programs as those funded by Australian Endeavour Awards and China Scholarship Council (CSC). Both sides reached a consensus on the procedures and preparation for the launching ceremony of the CAC_SUD at TJU.
In June 2012, UniSA and TJU signed an agreement to jointly build the CAC_SUD for which the upcoming launching ceremony will be held at TJU and UniSA respectively.
