Embassy of Italy in Beijing Delegation Visits TJU

On March 29, 2013, Tianjin University (TJU) President Li Jiajun met with Professor Plinio Innocenzi, Counsellor for Science and Technology of the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, and Dr. Xing Jianjun, China Area Chief of Italy Education Center.

During the meeting, President Li presented an overview of TJU, including its history, recent development, and research. He also hoped to further develop cooperation and exchange with Italian universities through ties with the Embassy of Italy in China, to which Professor Innocenzi responded very positively. Also, Professor Innocenzi is Full Professor of Materials Science at the University of Sassari in Italy. With the focus of his research interest on nano-scale self-assembled materials, he hoped to initiate cooperation with TJU related schools in this field.

Afterwards, Professor Innocenzi visited the State Key Laboratory for Precision Testing Techniques and Instrument in the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering and greatly appreciated TJU’s self-developed sophisticated precision equipment. He then paid a visit to the TJU History Museum. During his stay at TJU, Professor Innocenzi also held discussions with representatives from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Architecture regarding student exchange and joint research.
