TJU Attends Unveiling Ceremony of John Deere China University

On April 2, 2013, John Deere Co. Ltd. held the unveiling ceremony of John Deere China University in Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area (TEDA), Tianjin. Tianjin University (TJU) is the sole partner of this university. Vice Party Secretary Wang Yan was present at the ceremony. Attendees from John Deere included Mr. Samuel Allen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Marc Howze, Vice President of Global Human Resources, among others.

Vice Party Secretary Wang met with Chairman Allen prior to the ceremony. Taking this opporTJUnity for technological cooperation, both leaders hoped to deepen the cooperation in talent training and research, and further promote the strategic partnership. TJU will provide support for the construction and development of John Deere China University. Also, through further deepened cooperation and development of both sides, TJU will contribute more to the development of Binhai New Area, as well as the City of Tianjin.

John Deere is a Global 500 Top Corporation, a world leading engineering and agriculTJUre machinery manufacTJUrer. Its largest oversea investment, a large scale development center in China and four of its factories, was established in Tianjin Binhai New Area, including an engineering machinery factory, engine factory, tractor factory, and transmission factory. In 2007, John Deere set up a Special Scholarship at TJU. On January 31, 2013, an eight-member delegation from John Deere led by Vice President Dr. Klaus G. Hoehn visited TJU, and a Master Research Agreement was signed between the two sides covering technical collaboration and graduate training.

JohnDeere China University is John Deere University’s branch in China. It will design a tailored training program for Chinese staff. With various forms as well as the combination of classroom and on-line teaching, it offers Chinese staff 15 training programs for 2013, including personal ability, leadership, engineering, quality control, supply chain management, etc. The number of the class based and online courses is 500,with 30 training hours per staff member in 2013.
