9th Board Meeting of Confucius Institute in Bratislava Held at TJU

On June 5, 2013, the 9th Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava (CIB) was held at Tianjin University (TJU). Present at the meeting were Chairman of the Board CIB and Rector of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Mr. Robert Redhammer, member of the board of CIB and Honorary President of the Slovak Health University in Bratislava, Mr. Jan Stěncl, as well as TJU President and Vice Chairman of the Board of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava, Mr. Li Jiajun, and other representatives from both sides. Also attending was a special guest, Slovak Ambassador to China, Mr. Frantisek Dlhopolcek. The meeting was led by Chairman Redhammer.

During the board meeting, the agenda of the 9th Board Meeting and personnel changes of CIB were approved. The Director of CIB, Peter Paulen highlighted activities held and achievements actualized at the Confucius Institute in 2012 to present members. Subsequently, the Report of the CIB’s activities and its FinancialReport in 2012, as well as the the plan of activities in 2013 and its budget were reviewed and approved. Attendees also exchanged views on sending additional Chinese language teachers, expediting processing of visas to Slovakia, developing student exchange programs funded by Chinese government scholarships, and promoting research collaboration according to bilateral agreements between China and Europe. A preliminary consensus was also set for the date and venue of the 10th board meeting next year. Chairman Redhammer also introduced the plan of activities to be carried out in the year of 2013 to all boarding members.

The Slovakian delegation, accompanied by President Li, also visited TJU History Museum while they were on campus.
