On June 26, 2013, a delegation from Queensland, Australia visited Tianjin University (TJU). The delegation was headed by Deputy Director-General at the Queensland Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts, Mr. Darren Crombie.
TJU Vice President Yuan Yingjin met with the guests. Representatives from the Office of Science and Technology and the Office of International Cooperation also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Vice President Yuan gave a presentation on TJU's history, disciplines, research strengths, its research in the field of biochemistry, and the Binhai Industrial Research Institute. Specifically, he updated the guests on the Co-Innovation Center of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Tianjin, one of the first batch of nationally identified 2011-CICs (Collaborative Innovation Centers). Deputy Director-General Crombie delivered an overview of the research strengths of the delegates as well as their respective universities. Both sides agreed that they shared mutual interests in the field of research and hoped research staff could forge closer ties for potential collaboration.
It was followed by an in-depth working discussion concerning ways and fields of cooperation with representatives from the Office of Science and Technology, the Office of International Cooperation, the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, and the School of Life Sciences.
