On August 4, 2013, the Chairman of the Annenberg-Dreier Commission at Sunnylands, David Dreier led a five-person delegation on a visit to Tianjin University (TJU). President Li Jiajun met with the delegation. Representatives from the Tianjin government, TJU department, as well as its College of Management and Economics, School of Architecture, and the Office of International Cooperation also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, presentations on TJU's history and development, and an overview of Tianjin's scientific research were made to the delegation. Attendees then traded opinions on staff exchange, technical cooperation, APEC projects, innovation, and entrepreneurship. President Li emphasized the trend of closer cooperation between Beijing and Tianjin, and the opportunity ensued from the development of Binhai New Area, envisaging a brighter future through synergistic cooperation with international partners.
Chairman Derier and his delegation spoke highly of TJU's achievements in education, scientific research, and social service. He said that the delegation was much impressed by the city of Tianjin and is looking forward to starting a partnership with TJU to fulfill the Tianjin Miracle and further promote Sino-US relations.
The Annenberg-Dreier Commission at Sunnylands is based in California in the United States. Its goal is to strengthen the free flow of goods, services, ideas, and people throughout the greater Pacific and improve Sino-US relations through mutual respect.
