On August 26, 2013, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Vice President (International Affairs), Professor Er Meng Hwa, visited Tianjin University (TJU). TJU President Li Jiajun, TJU Vice President Shu Gequn,Deputy Director General of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission Sun Zhiliang, Director General of the Bureau of Education, Tianjin Binhai New Area, Jing Hongyang, and Vice President of Nankai University Guan Naijia met with the guests. Attendees also included representatives from the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Nankai University, and TJU.
On behalf of the Tianjin Municipal Government, Deputy Director Sun stated that Tianjin Municipal Government would offer support to the collaboration between NTU, TJU and Nankai University. President Li expressed his appreciation for the support of Tianjin Municipal Government. Looking back at the venture between TJU and NTU, he appreciated their collaboration in research, and hoped for their continued cooperation in education. Along with their cooperation, he expected to establish an international scientific collaborative network. Vice President Er also hoped to see future cooperation in multiple areas.
Vice President Shu held an in-depth discussion with the attendees concerning the cooperation between NTU and TJU in the fields of Environmental Science, New Media, and Economics & Management. He hoped to see additional development of their cooperation through research collaboration. Vice President Er expressed his gratitude to Tianjin Municipal Government on its support of the cooperation between NTU and TJU. In addition, he expected to work together with TJU on making greater contributions to the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city.
NTU is an internationally reputed research-intensive university in Singapore. NTU enjoys a reputation as a university of international standing with its solid foundation and strength in science and engineering. It is ranked 10th in the QS World Asian University Rankings 2013. Since 2002, Tianjin University has worked to develop a close relationship with NTU.
