French Delegation Visits TJU

2013-10-04

On September 25, 2013, Tianjin University (TJU) President Li Jiajun met with a delegation from France, led by Pascal Brouaye, President of the Association of Leonardo da Vinci, and Joel Allain, President of the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Ingenieurs de Bourges (ENSI Bourges). Representatives from TJU related schools and departments also attended the meeting. President Allain reviewed the cooperation with TJU from the past two years and spoke of the two TJU students who resided at ENSI Bourges.

President Brouaye introduced the three schools of the Association of Leonardo da Vinci and expressed his willingness to cooperate with TJU. Especially, he mentioned that the group was named Leonard da Vinci, a talent of art, engineering, and management, with the hope of training talent in these fields in France. He hoped that TJU would establish collaboration with the Association of Leonardo da Vinci, on the basis of cooperation with Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (National Institutes of Applied Sciences) (INSA). President Li exchanged ideas on the reform of engineering education with the delegation. Finally, both parties decided to collaborate in student joint training in the fields of management and multi-media.

School of Management of the écoles Nationales Supérieures d'Ingénieurs Bourges (ENSIB) is a member of the Conference of French Engineering Schools (CDEFI), and the Conference of Graduate Schools (CGE). It is accredited by the CTI (Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur [Engineer Qualification Committee]) to award engineering degrees. On November 15, 2012, ENSIB and TJU signed a Memorandum on Student Exchanges and a Cooperation Agreement for a Dual-Diploma Program.

Established in 1997, ENSI Bourges has two engineering programs: the Industrial Risk Management Program and the IT Technologies and Safety Program. These training programs take into account the needs of the engineer being responsible for risk prevention and management as well as the needs for analysis and development of present and future IT systems.

The Association of Leonardo da Vinci is the first provincial university in France, being established in 1995 by the Parliament of Hauts-de-Seine. In 2001, it formed an education group with other universities, and is composed of three institutes (Leonardo da Vinci Management Institute, Leonardo da Vinci Engineering Institute, and Leonardo da Vinci Internet and Multi-media Institute), one adult education center, and one apprentice professional training center.
