On September 29, 2013, a delegation from the Asia Technology Transfer Centre of the University of Western Ontario, led by Vice Provost Julie Ann McMullin, visited Tianjin University (TJU). Vice President Shu Gequn met with the guests. Representatives from the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission and TJU related departments also attended the meeting.
Vice President Shu presented TJU's disciplinary strengths and research as well as the cooperative history between the two universities. He mentioned the collaboration between the TJU School of Chemical Engineering and the University of Western Ontario. Also, TJU’s honorary Professor Jesse Zhu is also a professor from the University of Western Ontario. He hoped that both sides could continue to expand their cooperation to other disciplines and TJU schools.
Vice Provost McMullin stated that the University of Western Ontario had benefited from the cooperation with TJU and hoped that the two universities could further promote their cooperation. She highlighted that the University of Western Ontario had established its?first technology transfer center in China with a branch and staff in Tianjin. This technology transfer center aims to promote scientific and technological collaboration and technology transfer between China and Canada. She also hoped that this center could be a close tie between the two universities to enhance their cooperation. Subsequently, attendees traded their views on their respective advantageous disciplines and reached agreement for further cooperation in other areas.
