On November 1, 2013, President Ari K. Jónsson of Reykjavik University and his delegation visited Tianjin University (TJU) to promote research collaboration in the field ofsustainable energy, such as geothermal energy, as well as joint training of students.
TJU Chairman of the University CPC Standing Committee Liu Jianping met with the delegation. Both leaders gave an update on research and cooperative developments of their respective universities since President Jónsson’s last year visit. They discussed the possibility of Reykjavik’s engagement in TJU’s new campus construction with its research achievements in building materials. Next, both leaders exchanged a Student Exchange Agreement between the two universities, which starts next year.
Subsequently, the delegation held a discussion with TJU representatives from related schools and offices concerning cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, including geothermal energy and hydroelectric energy, as well as joint training of Master’s degree students.
ReykjavikUniversity, Iceland?s largest private university, is a dynamic international university. The university is committed to academic excellence and is renowned for its outstanding teaching and unique relations with Icelandic industries and public institutions. The University is comprised of four schools: the School of Business, School of Computer Science, School of Law, and the School of Science and Engineering. During President Jónsson’s first visit to TJU in 2012, an intent of cooperation was reached between the two universities on student exchange and research collaboration in the field of geothermal energy. In 2013, both universities signed a Student Exchange Agreement.
