First Steering Committee Meeting of TJU-NTU Virtual Centers Held

From March 26-28, 2014, a delegation from Tianjin University (TJU), headed by Vice President Shu Gequn, visited Nanyang Technological University in Singapore to push forward cooperation between the two universities in the areas of environment, new media, and business case writing.

Vice President Er Meng Hwa of Nanyang Technological University presided over the first steering committee meeting of TJU-NTJU virtual centers. Vice President Er and Vice President Shu, co-chairmen of the virtual centers, addressed the meeting, respectively. Vice President Er gave a briefing on the process of cooperation in the areas of environment, new media, and business case writing between the two universities. Vice President Shu hoped through the virtual centers, the two universities could collaborate more in talent training through research collaboration, and further implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two universities to serve regional development. Subsequently, co-directors of the virtual centers gave presentations on the development and future plans of their respective virtual centers since the agreement signing in September, 2013. For years, substantial cooperation between TJU and Nanyang Technological University has been developed in teaching, research, and faculty and student exchange. On September 23, 2013, both universities signed an agreement on research collaboration establishing three virtual centers.

Afterwards, an in-depth discussion was held on the objectives, mechanisms, and problems concerning the centers, and consensus was reached on further cooperation.

During his visit, Vice President Shu also visited former President Su Guaning of Nanyang Technological University and discussed university management with him.
