On April 11, 2014, the senior leadership of John Deere (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (Deere) and representatives of its think tank, Global Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (GTIAC) visited Tianjin University (TJU) to sign an MOU of strategic partnership. TJU President Li Jiajun and Vice President Shu Gequn, together with various TJU department leaders, greeted the guests.
During the signing ceremony, VP Shu gave an overview of TJU, including its history, teaching, research, international collaboration and campus life. He also reviewed the collaboration between TJU and enterprises in terms of talent training and joint research.
John Reid, Director of Enterprise Product Innovation & Technology, also gave a brief introduction about John Deere, including its 38-year history of development in China. He is looking forward to further collaboration with TJU.
President Li and Klaus Hoehn, Vice President of Advanced Technology & Engineering at John Deere, represented both parties in signing the MOU, which unveils an official cooperation in terms of talent training, teaching and research, recruitment of qualified graduates and practicum programs.
During the visit, Deere delegates visited relevant labs in School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronic Engineering, as well as TJU-Infineon Automotive Electronic Joint Lab and TJU History Museum.
Cooperation between Tianjin University and John Deere began in 2007 with the vision of creating scholarships, technological collaboration, undergraduate coursework, joint research development and internship opporTJUnities, and has grown steadily since then. The parties hope to make their strategic cooperation stronger and deeper in the years to come.
