On April 22, 2014, Professor Hoon Jaung, President of the Korean Institute of Legislative Studies, led a delegation to visit Tianjin University (TJU). TJU Vice President Shu Gequn met with the guests.
Vice President Shu first gave an overview of TJU history and its educational characteristics. He explained the history of cooperation between TJU and many Korean universities, including Incheon and Ewha Womans University, and he expressed that TJU and Korean universities have quite a good foundation for exchange. Furthermore, dozens of South Korean enterprises gather in Tianjin, which provides more opportunities for in-depth cooperation between the two sides. He hoped to further expand the scale of Korean students at TJU and continue working closely with South Korea universities. President Jaung similarly expressed that there has been a long-standing connection between South Korean Parliament and TJU. For example, Kim Hyung-oh, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea has visited TJU on numerous occasions, and has been awarded an honorary doctorate from TJU. President Jaung shared his hopes to deepen cooperation with TJU, especially through internship programs. Afterwards, the delegation visited the TJU History Museum and exchanged views with leaders of the TJU College of Management and Economics.
