ETH President Ralph Eichler Visits TJU

On September 9, 2014, ETH President Ralph Eichler visited Tianjin University (TJU). TJU President Li Jiajun met with the guest, along with representatives from TJU’s School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the Office of International Cooperation.

After welcoming the guest, President Li gave an overview of TJU, including its disciplinary advantages, collaboration with enterprises, research cooperation and the new campus. President Ralph Eichler elaborated on the university governance and the admission of outstanding students at ETH. He also talked about his own cooperation with China. According to him, TJU campus was very beautiful and impressive. The two presidents held discussions regarding the common features of world-class universities, such as academic freedom and the admission of the best students, and reached a preliminary consensus on cooperation in chemical engineering, material science, life sciences, sustainable development and other related fields.
