On September 10, 2014, Tianjin University (TJU) welcomed a Finnish delegation led by Kalvervo Vaananen, President of the University of Turku and Jorma Mattinen, President of ?boAkademi University.
TJU President Li Jiajun met with the guests and gave an overview of TJU’s history, disciplinary advantages and international cooperation. The two Finnish presidents introduced their universities respectively and expressed their hope to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with TJU. The two parties reached a consensus on collaboration in key fields including pharmaceutical science, life sciences, bioengineering, chemical engineering and the science of law. Afterwards, President Li and Kalvervo Vaananen signed an Agreement on Student Exchanges between Tianjin University and the University of Turku, which said that the two universities could annually send 4 students at most to each other for one semester exchange study starting from 2015.
During their visit, the delegation also visited the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the School of Life Sciences. They held discussions about academic exchanges with the deans of the two schools and visited some laboratories.
