TJU Delegation Visits Russia

From October 13 to 18, 2014, a delegation from Tianjin University (TJU), led by the Vice President Yuan Yingjin, participated in the Third “Open Innovation” International Forum in Moscow, Russia, and visited Lomonosov Moscow State University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

At the Forum, Vice President Yuan Yingjin was invited to the China-Russia University Presidents Round-table Conference. Chaired by the Rector of Ural State Economical University, Andrei FURSENKO, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation delivered a speech at the conference. He said that Russian and Chinese universities should learn from each other and seek international cooperation and joint development. Participants of the countries then had a discussion on university cooperation and integration of education and research. Vice President Yuan shared TJU’s exploration and practice in innovation and entrepreneurship highlighting the achievements gained in the work relied on the Technical Transfer Centers, Research Institutes in other areas, Enterprise-University Joint Research Institutes and Discipline Companies. Russian universities reacted positively to Yuan’s speech, appreciated TJU’s work in exploration and practice, and expressed their wish to cooperate with TJU. The Third “Open Innovation” International Forum in Moscow was held by the Russian Federal Government and China was invited as the only “partner”.

While in Russia, the delegation also visited Lomonosov Moscow State University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The delegation had a meeting with the Moscow State University International Laser Center, visited its new laboratory in the Innovation Industrial Park, discussed the cooperation between the two universities, and reached a consensus in co-establishing an International Joint Laboratory. Lomonosov Moscow State University, established in 1755, is the most renowned university in Russia. To date the university has 11 Nobel Prize winners. According to the 2014 ARWU Ranking, it ranked 84th globally. At Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Arkharov Ivan Alekseevich, Vice-Rector for International Relations, received the delegation. The two universities respectively briefed each other on the education, scientific research and international cooperation, and reached a consensus on cooperation and exchanges. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, established in 1830, is among the top three universities in Russia and ranked the first in engineering and technical universities in Russia.
