2nd SC Meeting of TJU-NTU Virtual Centers Strengthened Collaboration

On November 24, the 2nd Steering Committee (SC) Meeting of TJU-NTU Virtual Centers (video conference) was held. Professor Er Meng Hwa, SC Co-Chair and Vice President of Nanyang Technology University (NTU) presided over the meeting. Vice President Shu Gequn, SC Co-Chair, and other TJU SC members were present.

After the welcome address given by both parties, the co-chairs gave an overview of the past year’s fruitful cooperation in the fields of water management, new media and business case writing. They showed satisfaction and confidence on the partnership between TJU-NTU.

In accordance with the agenda, the Minutes of the 1st SC Meeting was reviewed and approved. Meanwhile, initiatives such as hosting senior executives on each other’s campus, formulating MOU on Intellectual Property Protection, and applying for research grants were discussed. Further steps to carry out those initiatives have been agreed.

Afterwards, reports on how the work has progressed and plans of the Centers were delivered. The Joint Center of Sustainable Water Management has conducted in-depth collaboration with the Sino-Singapore Eco-city in the areas of water resource management, domestic waste water treatment and China ecotone management. The training and exchanges of students will be the highlight of future endeavors. The Digital Media Engineering Center has worked intensively in cartoon production and massive open online courses (MOOC) research. Scientific research collaboration especially in the joint training of talents will be given a higher-level priority. The China Business Case Center has produced five business cases of national prize winners, and the future collaboration will be focused on the joint research and writing up two further cases.

Before its conclusion, the steering committee agreed that the next SC meeting would be scheduled around May, 2015.
