2019-05-24

On May 18, Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, the Indonesian Ambassador to China led a delegation to visit Tianjin University. Vice President Hu Wenping met with the delegation.

Vice President Hu said that Tianjin University attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation, and has established various forms of cooperative relations with many foreign universities and research institutions around the world. The number of international students keeps growing. In response to the "Belt and Road" Initiative, Tianjin University took the lead in establishing the China-ASEAN Engineering University Alliance in 2014. The establishment of this alliance greatly promoted in-depth cooperation with Indonesian universities. In 2018, the China-Indonesia Intelligent Ocean Center was officially inaugurated. In addition, the Tianjin University School of Marine Science and Technology successfully launched an "International Student Innovation Curriculum Project", relying on a person-to-person exchange mechanism set up by the China-Indonesia Vice-prime Ministers. Hu hoped that more exchange students and scholars from Indonesia would go to Tianjin University in the future, and that the Indonesian Embassy would continue to support the cooperation between Tianjin University and Indonesian universities.

The Ambassador indicated that Tianjin University left a very deep impression on him. He inquired and learned some details about the cultivation of international students at different levels at Tianjin University. He was very grateful to Tianjin University for providing a good learning environment for Indonesian students. He hoped this opportunity would provide an in-depth understanding of Tianjin University, which would lay a foundation for promoting exchange between Chinese and Indonesian universities.
