“French Culture and Education Day” Held at TJU

The year 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. On June 5, 2014, the “French Culture and Education Day” was held on the Tianjin University (TJU) campus to let students immerse themselves into French culture and education. The event was held jointly by TJU, the French Embassy in China, and the Tianjin French Alliance, and participated in by 13 French universities including Audencia Nantes School of Management. Its activities ranged from exhibitions on French higher education and French food to a French culture “Q&A” and French movie showings. All activities not only demonstrated French education and culture comprehensively, but also provided valuable information for students who are eager to study in France, serving as a bridge of communication and exchange. Besides, representatives from the TJU Office of International Cooperation held in-depth discussions with their counterparts from French universities on possible collaboration, such as joint student training.

Many students were attracted to the event by well-designed posters and foreign faces. Some students and their parents came specifically to consult with representatives of French universities. Faced with enthusiastic students, the embassy staff and universities’ representatives patiently gave presentations and answered questions. The event proceeded in a warm atmosphere.

Meanwhile, students were provided with traditional French cuisine to have “a bite of France”, making them more relaxed. During the French culture “Q&A” section, they also received souvenirs, like T-shirts and notebooks, which represented the passion and friendship of the French people.

In the evening, a French film named Mood Indigo (L’ ?cume des Jours) was played at the Students’ Activity Center, offering the audience a fantastic visual journey in France. Mood Indigo is a 2013 French romantic tragedy science fantasy film directed by Michel Gondry, starring Audrey Tautou, a famous French actress.
