The China Division Final of the 2012 Twenty-First Century China-UK Entrepreneurship Competition wrapped up on September 13. The team “Semension” from Tianjin University and two other teams from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Chongqing Jiaotong University tied for the first place in the final. Later in November, these three teams will compete against renowned British universities including Oxford and Cambridge in Britain.
The China-UK Entrepreneurship Competition encourages new business ventures between China and UK and simulates the real-world process of entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from early-stage investors and venture capital firms. The competition is part of the Prime Minister Initiative II (PMI2) Connect Project supported by British Council. It first started in 2007 and attracts over 200 teams from China and UK each year.
The organizers of this competition are Lancaster University, University College London, the University of York, Queen’s University of Belfast, China Innovation and Development Association UK, as well as Chongqing and Tianjin Associations for Science and Technology. The competition is sponsored by University East London.
