Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand Professor Margaret Brimble Visits TU

Professor Margaret Brimble, afellow in the Royal Society of New Zealand, paid a visit to TU on May 24th.Professor Li Yidan, Vice Chairman of the University Council, met with the guests together with representatives from the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, and the International Cooperation Office.

Vice Chairman Li extended his warm welcome toProfessor Brimbleand briefed the guest on the history and development of TU.Professor Brimble expressed her appreciation for TU's hospitality and her great honor to visit TU, the first modern university of China. She spoke highly of her students graduated from TU and expressed her hope for more TU students going to New Zealand for further study.

After the meeting,Professor Brimble paid a visit to the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and gave an academic lecture.

Prof. Brimble is the Chair for the Organic and Medicinal Chemistry University of Auckland. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 2001 and has received numerous scientific awards, includingthe 2007 L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Laureate for Asia-Pacific in Materials Science.Her research focuses on the synthesis of bioactive natural products especially molecules derived from extreme environments and shellfish toxins.
