On May 9th, the 7thBoard Meetingof the Confucius Institute in Bratislavawas held at TU. Present at the meeting wereVladimír BALES, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Confucius Institute in Bratislava, with his delegation from Bratislava, as well as President Jiajun Li together with the board members on the TU side.
During the Board Meeting, the resignation of Ke Gong, the former President of TU, as Vice Chairman of Board of Directors was approved, and President Jiajun Li was elected as the Vice Chairman. Chairman Vladimír BALES expressed his appreciation on behalf of the board members to former President Ke Gong, one of the founders of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava, for his great contributions to the Institute. As newly elected Vice Chairman, President Li expressed his hope that through the platform of the Confucius Institute, mutual exchanges and substantial cooperation could be further promoted with the joint efforts of both sides. Subsequently, the minutes of the 6thboard meeting, the activities at the Confucius Institute in the year of 2010, the fiscal budget, as well as the 2011 work plan and budget were reviewed and approved. Later, both sides exchanged views on the launch of Confucius classrooms, the dispatch of the Chinese teachers and volunteers. And a consensus was set for the date and venue for the 8thBoard Meeting.
During the visit, Jianping Liu, Chairman of University Administrative Council, met with the guests and expressed his hope for the enhancement of mutual cooperation and exchanges through the platform of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava.
Confucius Institute in Bratislava was established in May 2007 in collaboration with TU and Slovak University of Technology. Through a variety of educational exchange activities in areas of Chinese language and culture, including high-level educational events such as "Slovakia Day" and "Tianjin University Day", the Confucius Institute in Bratislava fosters on comprehensive bilateral collaboration in areas of education and culture, as well as science and technology.
