Presidential Delegation From Tula State Pedagogical University visit TU

On March 29, a delegation from Tula State Pedagogical University headed by President Shaydenko Nadezda and Vice President Fomicheva Zhanna visited Tianjin University (TU). Chairman of University Administrative Council Jianping Liu and Vice President Xiaotang Hu met with the guests. Representatives of International Cooperation Office attended the meeting.

After extending his warm welcome to the guests, Chairman Liu gave an overview on TU development history and advantageous disciplines, especially in area of engineering. He mentioned the contribution of TU to national and regional development together with the contribution by TU alumni in national projects such as “Bird Nest” and “Water Cube” in 2008 Beijing Olympics. President Nadezda introduced the characteristics and international collaboration of Tula State Pedagogical University. She pointed out the advantages of the University in chemical engineering, mathematics, physics, agricultural engineering and economics apart from the traditional pedagogic specialties. She also mentioned the close cooperation with Moscow State University in organic chemistry and nanotechnology. Besides, with 97% international students from China, the University attaches great importance to the cooperation with China, and it has already established Chinese language training programs with the help of Chinese students on campus.

Afterwards, Vice President Hu discussed cooperation details between the two universities with the delegation. He indicated that TU was committed to broadening the global perspective and international competitiveness of the students through overseas programs. President Nadezda agreed with Vice President Hu in the international perspective in student education and expressed her hope to initiate cooperation with TU on student mobility.

After visiting Feng Jicai Research Institute of Literature and Art, the delegation visited the School of Vocational and Technical Education, where they reached consensus on teacher-training and staff exchange.

Founded in 1938, and situated in the hometown of the great man of letters L.N.Tolstoy, Tula State Pedagogical University is named after Tolstoy and enjoys good reputation as an academic as well as teacher training institution.
