OnMarch 11, 2011, the 13thGreek International Education Fair was launched in the capital of Athens. More than 200 universities from 10 countries and regions gathered in Greece to present their achievement and characteristics on higher education.
As the Country of Honor, China sent a delegation of over 80 representatives from 35 universities, headed by Deputy Secretary-General Jianmin Li of China Scholarship Council, to attend the Fair. Representatives from the School of International Education and International Cooperation Office presented Tianjin University, the first university in China, and its outstanding achievements over the past 115 years to Greek people. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Greece, chargé d'affaires Xiyuan Zheng met with Tianjin University representatives at the Fair.
China’s tremendous achievementsin recent years attract widespread interests from Greek students. It is estimated that over 20,000 visitors would participate in this Fair. In spite of debt crisis, Greek students are still one of the largest groups of international students from Europe. According to the organizer, China is now one of the most popular destinations for international students.
