On September 7th, Professor Norman Tien, Dean of Case School of Engineering of Case Western Reserve University, visited Tianjin University to further consolidate collaboration between the two universities. Professor SHU Gequn, Vice President of Tianjin University and his colleagues warmly received the guest.
Professor SHU listened to the introduction by Professor Tien that Cleveland is focusing on offshore fresh water wind power generation, which will provide better opportunities for the collaboration. Professor SHU commented that the two universities should collaborate more closely in wind power research . Professor Tien voiced that the Smart Grid technology that TU studies now is an area of strategic significance all across the globe, and the two universities have potentials of collaboration in this area as well.
Professor Tien visited the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering, the School of Electronic Information Engineering, and the School of Civil Engineering. During the meetings, the two parties had in-depth discussions on faculty exchange, research collaboration, joint education programs, and reached common ground on further collaborations. They also touched upon research collaboration inMicroelectromechanical Systems, Micro-electronics, and Offshore Wind Power Generation. Professor LIAN Jijian, Dean of School of Civil Engineering, Prof. YANG Fuling, Director of International Cooperation Office, Ms. CAO Yuzhen, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Affairs, Mr. LI Wu, Deputy Director of Office of Science and Technology, Professor ZHAO Huijuan, Assistant Dean of School ofPrecision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineeringjoined the meetings.
