TU Scientists made contribution to “Fat Protein” analysis, published on “Nature”

Current researches consistently show that obesity has close connection to human genes. One “FTO” gene, vividly called the “Fat Gene”，might probably be the cause of obesity. Recently, scientists from Tianjin University and Beijing Institute of Biological Sciences successfully revealed the crystal texture of FTO Protein, and they further proved the protein to be a kind of DNA Demethylase. This groundbreaking research was published in Nature online on April 8. The research will provide the basis for the development of drugs for obesity with Chinese IPR.
