TU Alumnus WEI Jiafu Named One of China's Top Ten Talents in Finance

WEI Jiafu, TU alumnus and President & CEO of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO), has been named one of China's “2007 Top Ten Talents in Finance,” after being awarded China’s “2005 Top Ten Talents in Innovation.” The "Annual Top Ten Talents" award series aims to promote talent in different industries in China. It is supported by a number of organizations including The Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Counties (CPAFFC); All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; China Enterprise Confederation; China Federation of Industrial Economics; Peking University; China Education TV (CETV); China's Talents Semi-monthly; and United Nation's Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). WEI Jiafu graduated from Tianjin University with a doctor degree in Ship & Marine Structure Design and Manufacture. He took charge of COSCO in November 1998. With over ten years of seafaring experience and as a well-experienced captain, Capt. Wei Jiafu has rich knowledge in international shipping management and operation. As the head of COSCO, Capt. Wei has been crown with a number of distinguished awards over the past 5 years in honor of his outstanding contributions to the international shipping industry.
