Vice President of the University of Montreal Visited Tianjin University

On November 14, a delegation from the University of Montreal headed by its Vice President, Dr. Martha Crago, visited Tianjin University. The delegation also included Dr. Louise Béliveau, Associate Vice President and Dean of Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoal Studies, Dr. Giovanni de Paoli, Dean of Faculty of Environmental Planning and Design. Professor SHU Gequn, Vice President of Tianjin University met the delegation. Discussions were held on possible collaboration in terms of doctoral programs and research. Both sides agreed to the significance of joint Ph.D programs, which was convinced to be an important measure of promoting long-term cooperation between the two universities. It was expected to hold a bilateral seminar sometime next year so that faculties on both sides could better know each other and help further substantial collaboration in more areas. After the meeting, Dr. Martha Crago and Dr. Louise Béliveau gave a presentation to the University of Montreal and its graduate education. Concurrently, Dr. Giovanni de Paoli visited the School of Architecture of Tianjin University. Founded in 1878, the University of Montreal is now the largest university in Quebec and the second largest in Canada. In June 2007, the two universities signed a MOU for academic exchange and cooperation and an agreement of cooperation concerning candidates at the doctoral level.
