NTU-TU Research Seminar Held

At the invitation of Prof. Er Meng Hwa, Acting Provost of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Prof. Liu Jianping, Chairman of University Administrative Council of Tianjin University, led a six-member delegation to attend the “NTU-TU Research Seminar” held in NTU from Jan. 25 to Jan. 27, 2007. The delegation consists of professors from the schools of Computer Science, Civil Engineering and Electronic Information, as well as Director and staff of International Cooperation Office. The “NTU-TU Research Seminar” was hosted by College of Engineering of NTU with a key objective to explore collaborative research of mutual interest between faculty from TU and NTU. Faculty from both sides gathered together to present research projects, discuss research projects in detail and to visit some of NTU's excellent research facilities. Information about the newly-launched TU-CSC scholarship program had been shared with NTU partners to explore possible collaboration on jointly training of Ph.D. students from TU. During the visit in NTU, Chairman Liu Jianping also had a fruitful discussion with Prof. Lim Mong King, Senior Advisor on Globalization and former Vice-President of NTU, about the prospective future of cooperation between the two universities. Meetings with alumni from Tianjin University were also held during Chairman Liu’s stay in Singapore. On Jan. 25, Prof. Tan Xin, Director of International Cooperation Office and his staff paid a visit to National University of Singapore (NUS) to fully discuss the initiatives of cooperation on CSC Scholarship Program and University-Industry Relationship Case Study Program with Dr. Lawrence Loh, Vice President of NUS and his faculty and staff. A common understanding had been achieved.
