Chairman of TiMEC of Techint Group Visited Tianjin University

On October 17, a delegation from TiMEC of Techint Group headed by Chairman Raimondo di Carpegna Varini visited Tianjin University (TU). Professor HU Xiaotang, Vice President of Tianjin University, met the guests in No. 1 Meeting Room of Conference Building, accompanied by representatives from School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Office of Science and Technology, Office of Undergraduate Education and International Cooperation Office. After extending his warm welcome, Vice President HU Xiaotang introduced the history, development, disciplines and research capability of the university, and specially mentioned the important role of TU in Chinese engineering education. He said, TU kept good cooperative relations with many well-known companies both at home and abroad, and it would be beneficial to both TU and Techint to promote mutual understanding and explore possible collaboration in the fields of common interests. Mr. Raimondo di Carpegna Varini, Chairman of TiMEC, gave an overview of Techint Group and Techint in China and expressed the hope to work with TU in young engineer training, common project of research as well as the development of local supplier network. The meeting was followed by an exchange of views on the research activities, project management, scholarship and internship programs. Based in Milan and Buenos Aires, Techint Group is one of the largest international steel production corporations and develops diversified activities in such areas as steelmaking, infrastructure building, industrial plants design and assembly, energy and power and selected public services. Techint Group comprises more than 100 companies operating worldwide with three in China, which are located in Beijing, Qingdao and Tianjin separately.
