Delegation from Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne Visited TJU

On July 4, 2006, a delegation from Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne (EPFL) headed by Mr. Marius Burgat, Adjunct to Vice-President visited Tianjin University. Vice President HU Xiaotang met the guests in his office. After extending his welcome, President HU introduced the development, discipline characteristics and comprehensive capability of Tianjin University. Mr. Marius Burgat also gave an overview of EPFL. Both sides expressed their hope to promote the exchange in relevant disciplines and research fields, and discussed cooperation possibility. After the meeting, the delegation held discussions with principals from School of Architecture, School of Environmental Science & Engineering and School of International Education, and visited labs, education achievement exhibition and living facilities for international students. EPFL, founded in 1853, is a famous research university in Europe with near 2400 faculty and staff and 6500 students. The university has 5 colleges, covering the disciplines of natural science, engineering and theology, etc.
