Vice Dean of College of Business of UTSA Visited Tianjin Universit

On March 8, 2006, Prof. LIAN Daxiang, Vice Dean of College of Business of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Program Director of LIU’s Family Foundation at USTA, visited Tianjin University, accompanied by a senior manager of Tian Fang Group. His visiting purpose is to discuss with School of Management of the University about the cooperation possibility regarding the MBA postgraduates training program in USA sponsored by LIU’s Family Foundation. Prof. LIU Jianping, Chairman of University Administrative Council, met Prof. LIAN in his office. Director of Publicity Department, Mr. HUA Jiangfeng, Vice Dean of School of Management, Prof. WANG Bo, and Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office, Prof. YANG Fuling also joined the meeting. After extending his warm welcome, Chairman LIU briefly introduced the history, development and distinguished disciplines of Tianjin University. Prof. LIAN introduced the execution information of LIU’s Family Foundation in China, and indicated that as the Program Director of the Foundation, his visit to Tianjin was to select cooperative partners in Tianjin concerning the MBA training aboard program. Prof. LIAN expressed his hope to promote the cooperation between the College of Business of UTSA and Tianjin University as well as the Tian Fang Group on the program of sponsoring MBA postgraduates to go to USA for training. Chairman LIU indicated that Tianjin University welcomed the cooperation with the Foundation, and hoped to establish and develop the cooperation between Tianjin University and UTSA. After the meeting, Chairman LIU presented Prof. LIAN with souvenirs of Tianjin University. Later, relative staff of School of Management and International Cooperation Office discussed with Prof. LIAN about the details of the cooperation program including the standards of student selection and the timetable. University of Texas is the largest public university system in Texas, USA. The campuses are located in Austin (main campus), Houston, Arlington, Dallas, El Paso, Odessa, San Antonio and Taylor separately. The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), founded in 1969, is the second largest university of University of Texas system. It has 27,000 students, 8 colleges and one postgraduate school, providing 62 undergraduate programs, 43 postgraduate programs and 16 doctor degree programs, which cover the fields including architecture, business, education, culture, engineering, science, art, public policy, etc. The College of Business of UTSA, with more than 6,000 students, is the largest undergraduate school of the University of Texas system and one of the forty largest Business Colleges in America. The college has established many international cooperation programs with Asian and Latin American universities. LIU’s Family Foundation was founded by Hong Kong businessman Mr. LIU Shangjian in 1998, with the purpose of advancing MBA educational exchange between College of Business of UTSA and the well-known universities in China. Mr. LIU is ardent in educational and cultural career and was invited as the Culture Consultant by the Municipal Government of Tianjin in 2001. By now, the Chinese partner universities of the MBA Training Sponsorship Program of UTSA and LIU’s Family Foundation include Tongji University, Fudan University and Chinese People’s University, etc.
